  • cutting foam behind grill?

im sure this has been discussed before, but im not exsactly sure what words to search, so any way....

would there be any gain to cooling/air induction/anything by cutting a big hole right there behind the grill?

      i cut mine out.
there is a big hole on each side in the frame that leads right to where my SLP air kit is.

im not sure if it helps out, but i dont think it can hurt.

i was thinking about doing that this weekend also. just take the whole thing out. like a piece of foam is going to help that much if you get hit.

I cut my front section out just between the fog lights. I still wanted fog lights so now I have a mesh grill in front, windsheild res. fluid tank removed and a tranny cooler mounted where the res. use to be. Works great.

what is directly behind the foam anyway? is the radiator right there?

i think what they do is hook up some 4" flexible hose and run it up to the airbox

                        Re: cutting foam behind grill?

That's my proyect for next summer. I'm been thnking how to get more air. For now this is the proyect:
Behind foam there's metal with a small hole in each nostril (about 2'' diameter). I am going to make them bigger and pass 3'' (maybe bigger) pipes from each nostril to a plastic custom extension through a small space at the sides of the reservoir. The custom extension it'll be an addition to the SLP CAI duct that is already there. I am going to oval the pipes (2"), but that will not block the air. The pipes will be conected to the sides of the custom extension (2"), so air will come from the nostrils and from the custom extension under the car.

Yeah that's me. And yes, I ran them from the bumper to the bottom of the airbox. Gets the filter real dirty real fast, but I don't know that it helps much.
