I just bought CAI headers and abbott racing header gaskets, but abbot doesnt make flange gaskets that would go between the header and the Y-pipe...so where can I get gaskets for there? What have you guys that have headers from CAI done?

Re: Header gaskets
don't use copper rtv. the collector is a 3-bolt and 2.5" right?

Re: Header gaskets
any of those gaskets be it copper, aluminum, or steel core laminate will be better than the rtv. They're easier, reusable, and you don't have to squeeze orange goop all over it. I believe the copper rtv is only rated to 700 degrees intermittently which is really pushing it.

Re: Header gaskets
Where can i order Abbott header gaskets?
Anyways for flange, dont waste your time with all that crap, especially the RTV silicone, i used that stuff and lasted 2 weeks at max or one hard run. Go to Chevy or Pontiac dealearship, tell them you want an EGR gasket for the LT-1, its like $4 if that. It will look goofy because the LT-1 has 2 bolts, which i dont know who designed the EGR for our engine but they should be shot for having one bolt at the bottom, which causes the top to leak but anyways heres a pic of mine and what it should look like:

Re: Header gaskets
yeah, i just went to autozone and they had exactly what i was looking for. the headers are installed already though and all is good. i didnt put a gasket on the EGR because the stock setup didnt have one, so i didnt think it would matter. thanks for all your guys' help

Re: Header gaskets
ha yea your right, I wasnt paying attention.
Rediculous looking or not, as long as it doesnt tick like a ***** I can care less. I guess I could always slice off the top but never really cared.
