Thanks for the input. Did you have to take anything else loose or move it out of the way or did the drivers side just drop out the bottom? I'm going to be replacing the cat and the exhaust from the cat back so I'm hoping the hole will seem much larger once I get the cat loose. I've got the drivers side manifold loose and I'm working on the passenger side bolts. So far the only problem has been that one bolt that everyone else seems to have a problem with.

I believe you have to take the steering shaft lose from the rack to get the header in place but the manifold drops out with the y pipe gone.

I took the cover off the starter and also the black plastic off the steering arm. That is about it really. Just takes time and moving them around to slide them out

Good grief. I didn't realize it took that to get the headers in. I'm sure it won't be that big of a deal. Anything worth doing is worth doing right. Was the passenger side pretty straight forward without any extra parts being removed?

              The Pass side falls in.

I couldn't be happier. I wish I had only changed out the passenger side by itself. Heh Kidding. :)

Thanks for the info, guys. I can't wait to get this project done and listen to it purr. Gotta take it to be welded once I get everything in place.

Dear god. The passenger side is a ##### to get the back bolt off! It was almost as hard to get the lower heat shield bolt off! Unreal. What sucks even worse is the front bolt on the passenger side header was broken off, too! And it was broken before I even touched it! The heat shield was just flapping around on that side. Same as the drivers side. What jackhole put these bolts in?!

Must have been. After I got the manifolds off I can see a decent part of the bolt sticking out. I should be able to get a vice-grip on it and take the rest out. I got the cat off and took the exhaust loose, too. Shouldn't be long now.

you do realize that those bolts you are struggling with are studs right? Hence why a pain to get out. I left them in my heads and just used grade 8 bolts for all the other bolts.

Yeah...wrong terminology from me. I got all of them out except the front two. The ones that did come out looked more like bolts because the nuts were practically welded on from the heat. I got a set of stage 8 bolts to go back on. I just don't like things being wrong...at all...you know? It will bother me to no end until I get them fixed properly. (shrug) Maybe I'm just OCD or something.

Hey guys, this thread really helped me out. but rather than making a new thread with a question I figured I'd revive this one.

Should I go with the Abott gaskets, or will fel-pro work just as well? I am buying my cat and stage-8 bolts from Summit and to order the fel-pro at the same time would be convenient rather than ordering just the gaskets from a different site.

Also, Summit carries two types of stage 8 bolts, model numbers STG-8911 and STG-8911A. The only difference is the "Underhead Length." The 8911 is .75" and the 8911A is 1". Which would be the right one to go with?
