  • Edelbrock cat back

A local guy has a "low hours" used Edelbrock cat back from his 85 Z28 for sale.

Can I use this on my 2000??

I know I'll have to change the hangers but I took some measurements and it looks to me like it will fit. Even if I can't use the intermediate pipe, I could just install the muffler and dual out pipes. He wants $200, but I was thinking no more than $150. And it's only clamped together right now, not welded.

    Any thoughts?

Got it installed today, ($80) just needed new hangers. Looks great, a little disappointed in the sound. A little raspy, I think the Flowmaster sounds better. Well it was only $230 installed, maybe in a few years when this muffler goes I'll get the FM.

So it's official, a 3rd gen cat back kit will fit in a 4th.

If I installed a glass pack inline in the intermediate tube would this tone it down a bit without affecting the flow performance??

It sounds good, just a little too loud.

a glass pack will slow down the flow, but not much you'll notice a HP loss. It will help with sound as well. Some people ditch their cat and put a glass pack there instead. And the magnaflow muffler won't die, it's stainless :) Whereas flowmasters will rust out in a few years. Plus, flowmasters are a bit louder and raspier IMO.
