  • No more cat :) or :(

Well, I had to axe my cat today (car is a 1997 3.8). The thing had been rattling for a little while an was steadily getting louder. It pretty much died on the inside. Exhaust shop said I needed to fix it pretty soon or it'd end up clogging itself or my muffler. They suggested I go with a high-flow cat ($199ish), but i'm waiting for the FFF LT's. So instead of waisting money I just got them to get rid of it.

Questions: How long does it take the SES light to come on? B/c I've driven around quite a bit today and it hasn't popped up yet and I'm not quite sure why. And other than fixing the code it should throw, there's not really anything else I need to worry about is there? Well....other than that loud raspyness it has now has more often...which is annoying....But least it sounds better when i start her up an idle:)

I just wanted to check. Thx for info.

Mine took about a day or two to pop up. Then i got an o2 simulator, then it died, then i tuned it out. Supposedly spark plug anti foulers work too for tricking the o2 into thinking the cat is working.

you'll probably kill your o2 sensor, and that will be the ses light that will come on
