I have a 2000 camaro with the fly by wire set up and I wanted to get a throttle body spacer. I called summit to get one, they said that all the ones they had were for 99 down. I went ahead and got one anyway figuring it's the same. Am I right to assume this?

No. It's most likely for a FWD engine.

Do they make one for us? I thought I saw one on a thread but can't seem to find it. Could someone find the tread for me?

zzperformance.com carries one for our cars. i would imagine that one from summit would work as well.

Are you sure? the one I ordered is on it's way and I have to accept it when it arrives so I need to know if I can use it.

looks like you shoulda made this thread before you ordered the part for your car. Nothing we say will or will not make the part work at this point

Not to highjack or anything, but what does a TB spacer do?

the only one that says "Camaro" or "Firebird" says "With LS1 only," so I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say no...

it makes your throttle body longer...basically, nothing

It said for the 98-99 3.8L engine which is why I ordered it.

^here's my link. Instead of talking all this "it said this" and "it said that," just give us the link

EDIT: Also, when it comes to throttle bodies...anything that's gonna work on a 99+, isn't going to work on a 98- without modification...so, the fact that it was listed as fitting both, should have been your first clue to spend $80 on something worthwhile

Not exactly...supposedly it suppose to separate the tb from the intake manifold...lowering the air intake temp.

I don't know about gaining any power...but it definately keeps the tb cooler than the super hot intake. My reason for using it is to keep the "electrontic" tb cooler...we all know heat kills electronics.

First off, even if it did keep the air noticibly cooler, that air is either coming off the radiator or from whatever's trapped under your hood....so it's not exactly a winter's breeze to begin with. Second...let's pretend the air is cool when it gets into the intake and past the TB...it won't matter, because the air still has to go thru the hot upper and lower intake manifolds before it hits the combustion chambers. Why do you think you see people at the track putting bags of ice over the intake manifolds, and not the TB? It'd be the other way around if having a cool TB mattered so much. Third, all the TB spacers i've seen have coolant passages built thru them, so it's still the same hot coolant that's running thru it. Fourth, if you're so worried about heat killing your electronics, why haven't you shown any concern for your coil packs, fuel injectors, alternator, etc etc?

zzp spacers do not have the coolant passages

A 160 Tstat and turning your fans on at a lower temp would give you cooler air then that spacer would.
