I read in one of the threads that if you move the IAT away from the throttle body you could pick up a few horses. Well I did that and it seemed to to the opposite,I lost some pickup. Did I do something wrong?

Re: IAT sensor
It's not like I pulled it out all together, I just moved it farther down the tube. I have a fabbed CAI which is just 3in. PVC pipe. On a side question if I got 2.5in. pipe from the manifolds back and a high flow cat. In a ball park figure does anyone have an idea the gains I get?

Re: IAT sensor
Actually the leaner you run the more power you have.
Which is why you have those "chips" the trick your PCM to thinking that you are getting less air, so it gets less fuel. The reason people look down on those worthless things, is because they are very dangerous.. not everyones car is the same. And if you run too lean = hot = boom. Fuel actually helps cool the combustion chamber.
Think about why turbo guys need to upgrade their fuel pump. Think about why they need intercoolers. If you run lean, ESPECIALLY with a turbo engine with that hot compressed air (the reason for an intercooler), it just multiplies the fact that if you run too lean things will heat up. This is how people melt holes through pistons and things like that.
Running rich also has it's bad effects. Most of them listed, like destroying a cat, smelling like ****, and just plain wasting gas (worse mileage all around). You want to be as close to being lean as possible, without actually ever running lean, which is why when you tune, you want to run a little richer just for safety.Last edited by xmetallicaxguitaristx; 03-29-2008, 11:28 PM.

Re: IAT sensor
14.7 is the air fuel mixture for best emissions. Leaner then that will get you better mileage
but you don't want it leaner when your in its ***. Non super charged cars seem to like 13.2 to 13.7 AFR. While super charged / turbo cars should be in the 11- low 12 range. GM sends cars out rich at WOT for safety reasons. The AFR on my car stock was 11.8 :1. Now, since I have the power, I keep it about 13.5:1 at WOT and 14.7:1 all other times.sigpic
