  • 02 sensor after cat

hi my question is i have a 2002 y87 firebird and unlike my 98 bird i used to have the o2 sensor in 02 is after my cat, if i removed the cat and straight piped it would an o2 emulator be more likely to succeed in making the car run right? or is there another way i could run the car without the cat without buying an emulator?

If you straight pipped it, you would need the simulator for the one O2 after the Cat or you would get a SES light code.

no there is nothing else you can do. it's a stright pipe or high flow cat. both will pull codes. but the o2 sim works perfect

takes all of 2 seconds to put on. all you have to do is unclip the o2 sensor and plug the sim in. then just find a way to zip tip it up or something.

If you don't mind seeing your SES light, then the sim isn't even needed. Car will run fine without it, just throw a code saying your Cat isn't working right.

The post CAT O2 sensor does nothing to how the engine runs, It monitor's converter efficiency. That's it.

My car showed SES because had a leak in the conection between the EGR hose and the headers. I put some black paper gasket and that did not turn off the SES, but stop temporary the leak. I took the car to the inspection and it passed. Ah!, although having headers and an off-road catalyc, it passed the test. Maybe it passed because I have a muffler with packing material that absorbs excesive noise.
