      I put my lid and K&N filter on at the same time and I can feel the gain. Just look around and you'll find a good deal on a lid, they're worth every penny.

        i will save some money up for on then guys so shoudl i get a whisper lid or an slp lid off a v8 or just the whisper lid for a v6 so i wont get an engin light or anything

                  alright, so now you understand that these parts are off of an LS1. That brings me back to the first part of your original question.

That would be true, if the LT1-era engines were still in production and being put into new cars. But they aren't, because they are greatly outclassed by the LS engine series...an engine series that has a circular intake.

                  I'd call it a non sequitur point brought about by a hasty generalization, strawman logic, and misunderstanding of the quoted post

                    i agree that the LT1 isn't as powerful or reliable as the LS1, but I wouldn't call it inferior...thats just my opinion on choice of words though. I agree with your point now that I better understand where you're coming from, and to add to it,

                    more surface area isn't necessarily a good thing. You could theoretically get more flow out of a circular intake. Not to mention that more surface area means that there is more metal in the way of the air, which means more resistance to the airflow going into the engine. It was a great step up at the time of the development of the new LT1 TB's back in 93 (i think the 93 formula was the first time we saw one of those?), but now yes, it's clearly not superior.

                    EDIT: I do resent the comment about strawman logic though. I actually have a very very good understanding of physics and the physical sciences, as well as a 4.0 GPA to back it up, -wink wink-

After all, you did take my argument, reform it in such a fashion that it no longer resembles what I originally said, and then tried to make me defend it as if I had said that.

                            That's a Home Depot Lid. I eventually replaced it with a Whisper Lid - but they are pretty much the same performance-wise. Both give you much better sound during acceleration.
