    Re: headers question

I havent got around to installing my headers yet, but I would cut it a few inches short of the y-pipe, bolt your headers and y-pipe on, and take it to the mufflers shop. you may have to rig a temp hanger for the drive

      Re: headers question

cut the old y-pipe off, clamp the new one on until it can get welded

i've currently got my y pipe clamped to my cat, would it be beneficial to have it welded? would it reduce the loud vibrations? increase efficiency? how much $ for a weld job like this?

        thanks

Most people use a reciprocating saw, but you can get away with just using a hacksaw

the piping should already be cut

                  Re: headers question

^ I wouldn't pay more than $20 for one weld on the y-pipe. Actually I wouldn't pay anything.

yea for such a small weld job it should be like 20, you'll know if the shop is scewin u if they ask for 40.

Welding tips is different, and much more complicated, than getting one weld done at the y-pipe...hence the price difference

unless you want to have 2 catbacks under there, ya you're going to need to cut the old one out

If it's just a couple spot welds, sure...that'll be your tab.
