Question on exhaust sound:

I have a 2bbl 2.8 v6, stock other than a K&N filter and I run a 3" pipe from the stock cat back and splits into two 3" pipes, no muffler just a splitter. It sounds good, a little loud maybe. If for example I am in overdrive cruising at 50mph, it is so loud inside the car I think my teeth may fall out:eek: from the vibration and I will surely suffer from hearing loss. If I drop the transmission into drive (3rd on a 700r?) from OD it sounds good again and just a nice rumble from the rear of the car. If I wait till I am out on the freeway to use OD it sounds good at 70mph. Anyone know what gives? What may be causing my discomfort and what I might do to fix it? Thanks Much!

probably just resonates at that particular frequency. Do you have tips? That might at least...change the frequency, probably won't make the problem go away completely, but won't cost to much to try it.

This is exactly what is it. Every object in existence resonates at its own frequency. When subjected to that frequency, the object itself begins to vibrate, causing the sound level to multiply.
