  • Pacesetters + new cat installed!

Just installed the final pieces on my '96 3.8...

Install wasn't too bad except that the rearmost bolt on the driver's side exhaust manifold had sheared off and I had to get it towed to my buddy's shop and use his equipment. Everything reached and fit perfectly although I had to have the guys make a new s-pipe since my cat is 3" as well as my I-pipe. I took the board's recommendations and used Abbott gaskets and Grade 8 locking bolts.

As others have mentioned before, it isn't that much louder but it is much deeper and there is less rasp. Together with my SLP CAI, 3" I-pipe, Flowmaster 80 muffler exiting to B&B quad tips it sounds VERY nice...I'll try to get a sound clip/video clip after this weekend (I'll be out of town).

I got the ArmorCoat Pacesetters and a Magnaflow/CarSound (OBDII-CARB) cat which together put me back about $575 but I'm very happy with the results. I haven't had a chance to drive it hard yet but driving back from the shop there was a SOTP difference.

So, if anyone needed convincing on where to spend their government advance...I mean, "stimulus package", there it is.

I've been thinking about pacesetter headers....I already have a custom S pipe and Test pipe on the car...All I need on the exhaust is the headers and the Y pipe and I'm good.

    ...

and new hangers in the back. :)

The Test pipe is welded to the stock Y and clamped, and it's a part of the S pipe, the guy custom bent it for me at no extra charge.
