would it matter if i drove the car without the post cat o2 sensor plugged in?

long story short, putting in a new exhaust. cut my exhaust off right before the cat and the exhaust needs to be cut different then i did and im sick of cutting and dont have the time to finish it today. so tomorrow i was just gunna drive it to an exhaust shop to have it all welded. but i have no cat and behind. other than the crazy loudness and the smell of carbon monoxide, will it matter?

btw, i had to back the car out of the garage like this and it sounds amazing. i wish i could leave it like that.

    so, anyone?

I believe unplugging the post cat O2 sensor will throw a code....if it hasn't already.
If it will affect emmisions, I'm not sure.

There are O2 sensor simulators, to not set off a code.

its going to throw a code, and depending on where you live it is illegal, you will fail emissions and can get fined heavily if caught without a cat

          no, your car won't self-destruct if you don't have a post-cat o2

It doesn't. Running without a post cat o2 sensor will not affect your car in any way, shape, or form, other than the SES light.

now i cant decide if i wanna risk driving it and have to try and avoid police in my small town or if i should get it towed which should be free because its close by.

If you're just driving to the exhaust shop, tell the police that and they will more than likely leave you be if you do happen to get pulled over. Just don't hotrod around with the exhaust off, take it easy.

how many hours do you think an exhaust shop would charge just to weld up an exhaust? i cant imagine it being much more than 1 hour. what do you think?

                              Re: no o2 sensor

Shop charged me $100 labor to install my exhaust with few of their adapters, and the bending and welding of the muffler back with their pipe, as well as welding on my tips.

If you have all the parts, it should be less than that. Give them a call though they can normally get you a good estimate.
