  • Custom Intake

when I first bought my car I didnt have enough money for a k/n filter and whisper lid so i went to the local pep boys and threw together a free flowing intake for about $50. Since I put it on i have heard people say its **** and I should get the k/n filter and lid, and others say it probably works better. Id like to hear some opinions on whether or not I should change to a lid.

Eh, yea, doesnt look like the "conventional" method of doing it, but it works and if your happy with it then keep it that way...

I mean, come on, accept it for what it is, a V6... how much of a difference is it really going to make if you move it. (Besides looks...)

i find it kinda funny the way some people make room for things with the two extra cylinders were missing. being a V6 and all.. some much room up front there, once all that silencer plastic is removed.

                    Re: Custom Intake

from the looks of it, i bet it would actually be quite functional as long as the fans were running, ya know...blowing directly on it and all...

                    not very asthetically pleasing tho:spank:

                      Re: Custom Intake

It would be better if it were pulling in cooler air. Where it is positioned now is a pretty hot place.

                          Re: Custom Intake

I'd say grab a longer tube, point the elbow toward the driver's fender and try to route the air cleaner inside the lower driver's fender.

I think they work pretty well. i made one out of tin (took a little engenuity but fairly simple) and slipped it over the slp intake. cost about $10!

GM gave us plenty of room for a super/turbocharger to replace those two missing cylinders :P

but yeah...that intake is pulling in very hot air right there...i cant see how it could help performance
