  • Y-pipe dimensions

I'm well along putting a 3.8 into another car and I have some questions about the Y-pipe.

Most my parts are originally from a 96, so I have the older style manifolds.

I am getting some tubular manifolds off of a 2001, and I am pretty sure I will need to get the Y-pipe off of the 01 as well, is that correct?

My main question is if the 'width' of the 95-99 y-pipe, the 00-02 y-pipe, and the pacesetters y-pipe varies. Basically, I am looking for the setup that will hug the block as close as possible, because the vehicle I am putting it into has very narrow frame rails. (As you can see in the pic)

Does anybody have any y-pipes out of the car that they can get some measurements from?

Here is a pic to show what I am talking about - I would need a measurement of the widest section of the pipe, which should be from one tip of the flange to the other.

    Thanks!

looks like from the pic you can just measure the manifolds. I do have a y-pipe for tubular manifolds lying around. What specific measurements do you need? Also, you can have it if you want to pay for shipping.

Thanks, I have the measurement for the 'log' style manifolds and y-pipe, I don't have my hands on a a set of the tubular manifolds yet but it looks like they may be easier to get to work on this vehicle. Headers would be a lot of money to spend if I'm not even sure if they will fit any better.

26.5" flange to flange. Right off a 96.

Awesome! I got just under 26.5" off of my 96 exhaust stuff but I think my stuff might have been tweaked just a bit.

The frame rails are only 26" apart so it looks like in addition to a little performance difference the tubular manifolds will give me some more clearance.

How much would shipping run to ZIP 32817? There is a junkyard here with an 01 but they won't let me take the manifolds until the motor is sold. They are supposed to be pulling the motor any day and then I can just come and pick up the manifolds and save a few hours of work getting them off ... but I'm not sure they'll remember my request.

looks like it would be pretty expensive, maybe 40 some dollars. If you think you want it I can take it to the UPS place and find out for sure.

Shouldn't be that much I shipped headers parcel post for 20 bucks through USPS

UPS adds more for how big the box is. i don't use USPS.
