took off my air silencer recently and I just took it for a drive

HOLY DAMN! The intake is ridiculously louder, like as in louder than anything else in the car when I accelerate, even better with the windows rolled down:)

I replaced the silencer with a piece of 3.5" exhaust pipe and used spectre intake couplers I found at autozone to hook it up to the tb and used the stock rubber collar and coupler to hook it up to the stock lid. The connection to the tb was a bit challenging, had to stretch one end of the coupler for a couple hours using wood clamps to get it to slide over that bump around the edge.

I don't know about you guys who used pvc or just got whisper lids, but this thing is awesomely loud. I'll take pics if anyone wants to see em

    Next step: shaving the lid.

I agree! It does carry a much better sound. I removed mine as well, but I just cut mine out and fiberglassed up the hole. It came out nice I thought. It opened up a lot of room in the engine bay! FirebirdGT bought it when I had to pull the motor.

get a whisper lid... I shaved the lid on mine and then got a whisper lid later on, I wish I had got one in the first place.

I was thinking about doing that but figured this would be just as easy

they are a few cents.... i think like 350... but well worth it. it's a full intake. if you end up with the whisper lid. alot of people end up getting the lid, which is like 150 or so. then the slp cai another 150 and then the k&n filter for like 50.....so it works out to the same in the long run. plus this one is a million times kooler to look at.

i had the whisper lid set up. i love the fipk a million times more

Oh, where does the k&n get it's air from. It looks like it just sits on top. Does it have a cold air source?

I've always wondered if anyone ran a FIPK with a 60 degr angle in it so it grabs air from down where the windshield reservoir is. Insta-ram.

I'll get pics as soon as I can find my dang camera

                        K&N FIPK doesn't work for my 98.

So whisper lid and slp cai and K&N filter FTW!

From what? Not hooking up the IAT?

If I ever get extra spending cash that I don't care about I'll get the FIPK for sure. I've always liked how it looked. I already went with the whisper lid though. Which is getting painted and will hopefully turn out cool when I'm done.
