SES code

ok, so the dreaded SES light came on the other day so I got it scanned today and it came up with a bad cat. The cat is less than a year old and is a highflow carsound cat. Does it need replacing? Is it more likely an O2 sensor? Or anything else? Is there anyway to know for sure? thanks in advance.

if it was an o2 sensor then the code would have been on for a sensor. sucks to say but doesn't matter how old the cat is.....they can go bad whenever
