  • I now have a fully functioning Ram Air setup

Just received my air box a couple days ago, and just finished installing it today. It was really alot easier to install than I thought it was going to be. I just used my stock 90* elbow that was on my car, and a 5" piece of PVC pipe. I just cut the bend out of the elbow, and used the 2 ends off of that and crimped them down on the PVC pipe. The IAT sensor already had a provision in the air box, so I just moved it there. Quite a while back I had already moved the air inlet pipe that went into the elbow and brought fresh air into the passenger side cylinder head, so I didn't have to worry about that. Overall I am VERY pleased with the outcome. I haven't taken it for a test drive yet, I'm going to get cleaned up first. But I'll let ya'll know if it feels any different after I take her out for a spin. I'm not expecting any drastic results from this, it was just more of a piece of mind thing I felt I needed to do.

This also means my SLP cold air intake will be up for sale soon for those of you who may be interested. BTW, I know my engine bay is a complete mess. I gotta clean that up.

Just got back from a test drive. I'd be lying if I didn't say if felt like I gained some power from this. Increased throttle response throughout the entire power band, and it just felt like it really wanted to get up and go. Definitely the most worthwhile mod I've done yet. Gave it an even deeper tone as well.

      ebay :naughty:

was up for less than 6 hours before I used the buy it now option. Price wasn't too high, nothing you wouldn't expect to pay for a new cold air intake.

It was used, I haven't had a chance to clean it yet.

It's an air filter, designed to trap dirt.......

I don't have any numbers.. but I can definitely tell that it gained a little. It really feels like it wants to get up and go. That's after upgrading from a cold air intake, I could only imagine what it would feel like upgrading to it from a stock intake.

Nice man! I thought of an idea close to the but with using a stock intake from a 98 - 02

Yeah I definitely prefer this setup over the 98-02 setup. It's more of a straight shot from the hood to the intake. Plus if you do a 98-02 setup, you would either have to cut up your cross member if you use your stock hood, or you would have to buy either a cowl or ram air hood to have enough clearance between the intake lid and the hood.

Using the stock hood would look like this:

But with a ram air hood, you could fit the whole thing under there:
