y a cutout on a stock car with stock manifolds and no headers? Put the money towards more worthwhile mods than a cutout

      Re: Electric cutout

i have a low budget. i cant afford new manifolds and headers right now. i just want something to make it louder and with an electric cutout atleast when the cops come by i can turn it off so they dont suspect something :)

            Wrong. Right. Wrong.

2000+'s came with tubular manifolds, which are not the same as shorty headers.

              Re: Electric cutout

headers, headers, headers. if they are not log manifolds, look like a duck, act like a duck, etc, etc.

besides, he has not modded his much so i think he just wants the ability to make noise. worst thing about electric cutouts i know of is that the electric solonoid does not last very long. i forget where to buy them but it cant be that hard. it is a generic device and you mainly just have to match the diameter to your current exhaust.

just buy a catback its more worthwhile

and shorty headers are ALOT different than tubular manifolds.

sorry for the jack, but I have a 2000 with tubulars. What is the difference?

                    Re: Electric cutout

shorty headers have larger primaries I believe

and while both flow relatively the same, headers will be louder.

By this part of the post alone, it's plainly obvious you've never compared short tube headers to tubular manifolds, or have even seen the two sitting next to eachother. Please stop posting about things you don't have the slightest bit of knowledge on; it just makes you look really stupid. Not saying you are, but that's the look you're sporting right now.

EDIT: Here's something that should kick-start some cerebral activity: if tubular manifolds are such an improvement over log manifolds, why are 2000+ V6 f-bodies rated at the same HP/TQ as say, a '96 F-body?

Not only do they have larger primaries, the volume of the collector is much larger on headers, than on tubular manifolds

thats a good point... and to the OP: if you want just a cutout, then get a cutout, i don't think it'll sound as good without other mods, but if you do get one, thunderracing.com has some

with all respect, are you referring to the difference in performance as compared to pacesetters or actual custom fabbed shorty headers?

I'm talking about any aftermarket headers, compared to tubular manifolds
