My egr leaks air like ***** cuz the gaskets pacesetter sends burn up instantly so ive tried sealing it several times with a bonding compound thats supposed to withstand high heat but dont think it will last again. I wanted to do block off plates and just not worry bout it anymore but i dont see them for v6 just LT1s....any help here?
Just weld in the hole in the headers and make your own block off plate for the intake manifold. It's what I did. Works just fine.

But, yeah.. you proved my point.

and I'm as broke as you. (probably broker)
The coating is def. worth it. My RKsport headers still look good, going on 8 years now.

...And not applicable. If your underhood temps are so high that you're damaging components, your problem is something much bigger than uncoated headers; uncoated headers will put only slightly more radiant heat as log or tubular manifolds.

          EDIT:
Furthermore, the cooling effects of coated headers have been greatly exaggerated on this forum, for quite some time.

I never really cared that much about them reducing temps that much , just holding up their appearence was the most benefit. I'm in AZ so I know my temps are going to get high, anyway I look at it.LOL

so if i get the uncoated ones, the temps wont be much different then they are now with the stock manifolds?

not particularly. Ask anyone who's had uncoated headers for a prolonged period of time, if they've had any heat issues

The coated headers keep more of the heat inside the pipes. Uncoated will dissipate more heat into the engine bay.

In case you missed it the first two times, I'll say it again: While having coated headers does keep some heat in the pipes, the performance gains are unproven and most likely, very neglible

ehhh depends on your particular set up. And if you remove the heat shields. No way I'd put something unshielded, uncoated right up there next to my plug wires. if you keep the shields an stuff probably be fine. Just ugly and heavy

if you can afford the coating then get coated ones.

Wrong. If you burn plug wires or not is entirely dependant on if you route them correctly or not; coated headers will burn wires just as quickly as uncoated, if routed incorrectly.

^been running this set up for the nearly 3 years, and haven't singed a wire since install. If you have a problem burning/melting wires, the solution isn't shiney headers

as long as you get the RIGHT headers you will be fine

many people try and go for the biggest 3" header tubes going into a 6" collector (just an exaggeration.. but you get the picture) and wonder why their car is preforming worse, bigger /= better

The coating's heat dissipation isn't the main reason you'd get the coating, it's there to protect the headers from rusting out. Period. It's so you can protect that investment you've made in your exhaust so that your headers will LAST LONGER. Get the coating.

that's not a concern with V6 f-bodies, because of the limited selection available; significant gains are guaranteed, no matter which brand you go with

If extreme rust damage is such a progressive, fast-acting threat, why aren't stock log manifolds or tubular manifolds coated from the factory? Many people have those much longer than they have headers, coated or no, and I've never heard of anyone complaining about those rusting out
