If extreme rust damage is such a progressive, fast-acting threat, why aren't stock log manifolds or tubular manifolds coated from the factory? Many people have those much longer than they have headers, coated or no, and I've never heard of anyone complaining about those rusting out
Hmm I wonder how that could be? Maybe because the stock exhaust manifolds are thick cast iron and headers are made out of thin mild steel :twak:.

Do you know someone with aftermarket headers that have rusted through?:slap:
With these cars? No. Because next to nobody owns these out here. I've seen planty of 3RD gen camaros and 2ND gen camaros with headers they bought 10 years earlier and they'd rusted through. And that's in a more mild climate where road salt is hardly ever used. How often do the Crapmaster mufflers rust out in your climates? Check out your stock y-pipes. Are they coated in rust or rusting through? Mine was coated in rust, and like I said earlier, it's a mild climate where road salt is used once every 4 years or so.
I never said it was a "fast acting" problem but in the context of 10 years or so, you could have rusted headers or decent ones with a coating.
You guys need to come out and live in AZ, no rust here. I have had my car going on 13 years on a spec on it. The RK sport headers still look new with the ceramic coating, that is about 8 years of having them.
08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake
96' Camaro M5 to A4 conversion, alot of mods . GT35R Turbo full suspension. Built engine
Ive got full exhaust complete for awhile now, it sounds really good and all just havent seen a huge power gain from spending 1100 to do the headers , highflow cat, flowmaster, etc. I dont think im doing any internal engine mods cuz im getting high mileage 124,000 dont see it being worth it anymore. My egr leaks air like ***** cuz the gaskets pacesetter sends burn up instantly so ive tried sealing it several times with a bonding compound thats supposed to withstand high heat but dont think it will last again. I wanted to do block off plates and just not worry bout it anymore but i dont see them for v6 just LT1s....any help here?
have you tried using Thermosteel on the EGR? it's like $4 or $5 and it lasted me for over a year and when it finally cracked off I just scraped the old stuff off with a wire brush and put it on again. it can take really high heat because it's metal and it's really easy to apply
Haven’t done anything on the Camaro, but put LEDs on my truck headlights . And my oil pressure sensor went out on the truck so going to fix that this...
