  • Need help diagnosing

    Hi all,

Minor problems. I'll be quick and to the point.

Background: Redid leaking valve covers about 2 weeks ago, removed EGR valve from Pacesetter Headers. Got into a fight trying to get the EGR -> Headers part to reseal. After about a week of minor exhaust leak, threw SES light, turned up "EGR flow circuit malfunction, EGR flow Sensor A low input, Catalyst efficieny below threshold".

Got it to reseal completely this week, pulled battery cables to reset computer, SES light is still on, with the following codes from Advanced's OBD II.

    P0403
    EGR Flow
    Circuit Malfunction

    P0405
    EGR Flow
    Sensor A
    Circuit Low Input

    P0420 Catalyst Efficiency
    Below Threshold
    (Bank 1)

    DTC Pending(Codes)

    P0155
    O2 Sensor Heater
    Circuit Malfunction
    (Bank 2 Sensor 1)

    P0420
    Catalyst Efficiency
    Below Threshold
    (Bank 1)

Anyone have any ideas what the problem is? I'm in between mechanics at the moment because the one I've been using makes me drop the car off 3-4 times before he does anything, even when I've scheduled 2 weeks in advance, so I *really* don't want to try taking it to him.

Thanks all for any help you can give!

This might be a dumb question but i guess its food for thought...

When you got it sealed back up what did you use? Is it possible that somehow some of the sealing media got into the EGR tube and is causing it to go crazy? During your fight to get it to seal, did you bang around too much maybe disconnecting a wire to a sensor in that circuit?

Its possible that the EGR valve or tube is warped. It isn't too uncommon and happened to me. A new one will run around $130. I was experiencing similar problems, exhaust leak/SES light, and once I got a new EGR valve it went away.
