I am thinking about blocking mine off. Bought a new one and 15,000 miles later its no good again car bogs like it did before when it went out. I know that you can get block off plates but when you do this do you throw any codes? I have the 1406 code right now and want it gone for good. Is there a sim for it or anything?

blocking the egr will trigger a code. HPtuners or an egr sim will take care of it, yes

can i just find someone with hp tuners and they can turn it off for me for free? or how does that program work?

if they have credits to do your year. If not it costs $100 to unlock a pcm

well then they can tune other things while they are at it though. So you would be gaining from doing it that way

i really don't care about any tuning its my daily driver. i really just wanna get this gone because its eating my mpg up with this thing broke

well a tune with hptuners can help your mpg as well, so if you are that crazy to get it running good, a good tune will make a nice difference

I go to college full-time so the funds aren't there for a tune. What if i put the block off plates on. Would it run better with them on there than with a broken egr?
