Re: A few pics, turbo under K setup

Alright.. I have a little redeeming to do. I showed you my ****ty welds with the flux core welder I did before at the beginning of this thread last year. Here are some welds I can do at work with a mig. I just got a new phone that takes decent pics too so I had to play with it. These aren't my best but I think they're pretty good for me.

If you're wondering, a contractor bought a new semi. A pintle hook had to be installed so I got to weld on 2 plates on the rear crossmember, which is really the stock tail light housings. These are the pics after I welded the plates on, before I drilled and installed the pintle hook.

I would love to have access to anything like this at home. I love working with metal, i just don't get to use anything good for my fun projects at home. It's always for someone else.

lmao, yeah it was a single. If I had any jack at work there wouldn't even be a weld there cause I'd be sleeping under the tractor.

Great job Blizz, looks like the student has become the teacher. Now it is time for you to leave, and do your own pipping. LOL

Also was that just using the Mig with gas? I know I use my Mig with flux .035 wire.

I still haven't got gas for my Pro mig 140 but I can weld pretty good with it and just grind my welds down. But I do want gas, does your use a dual setup mixture or just 1 tank? PM me if you want with what gas needs to be used since I don't know if I just need 1 tank which I can get on ebay, thanks Blizz.

Hey it's np. It's just one tank but it's a mixture of two gasses, I can't think of exactly what it is off the top of my head but I'll write it down on Monday and let you know.

Edit: I looked it up, Argon and Co2. There are a couple different percentages you can get them in. Generally the more Argon the better, but the more argon increases the price too. But I'll see what we specifically use and PM that to you on monday. I believe the specific welder we have is a Lincoln pro mig 255. I'd like to see if I can do anything with thinner metals with it, like exhaust pipes.

If you are just welding steel, no special alloys, You can use straight CO2. For a little cleaner bead 75% CO2/25% argon. I use 75/25 on my MIG, but straight Argon on my TIG. If you want to weld aluminum with either the MIG or TIG you will need straight argon. You also need to change the liner in the MIG gun for aluminum wire.

brian, what volt range do you weld aluminum with? We have a little spool gun aluminum welder and I swear I just can't get a decent weld with that damn thing. luckily the aluminum that I have to weld is usually a part of the conveyor system on the inside of the trailers so it doesn't necessarily have to look good. But I would like it to.
