What is the diff. between the 3.8 Lid and the LS1 lid?

    Re: Intake lid

The neck of the V6 lid is off-set to the driver's side while the LS1 lid neck is centered.

the way the throttle body meets to it

AFAIK the ls1's have the outlet centered, while it is offset on the v6's

Is there a way to run an slp lid on a 3.8?

Yes, you need to either use some angle cut PVC pipe or flexible tubing.

Do they still make the whisper lid?

              Re: Intake lid

Supposedly the V6 whisper lid hasn't been available for the past 8 months or so. The company that makes them hasn't been responding to emails and most places are out of stock. Not sure if this goes for the V8 whisper lid. If you're lucky, you might find a used one for sale.

hmm ok how much performance would putting in a k&n filter, smoothing the stock lid (taking out the fins) and running a slp cold air intake do?

                  Re: Intake lid

Probably not as much as adapting a V8 lid in combo with SLP CAI and K&N air filter. The aftermarket lids have a round outlet, which flows better than the stock oval outlet. They also allow the air silencer to be removed. But if budget is a concern, shaving the stock lid will yield better results than leaving it as it is, especially when combined with the cold air intake and air filter.

                    ****HIJACKING BRIEFLY****

I think I saw one, but is there a write-up about how to make your own "whisper lid" somewhere. I thought I saw one a while back can't for the life of me find the write-up. Is it as simple as just getting a bigger "neck" and some clamps. The one I think kept the baffle neck, but they cut the side baffles and repaired it somehow.

ok here's the deal---yes, whisper lids have been on backorder for months through most companies, and they're getting about as rare as leprechauns, BUT you can still get one:

they are one of the last companies still carrying one---i just got my carbon fiber lid about a month ago and i love it:

that's the c/f lid with decals from rksport, k&n filter, slp cai and ram air upgrade.

in the meantime, search the how-to's and you can do a silencer delete and shaved lid mod to your stock setup which will help flow out until you can get the real deal, but don't be fooled, there's no replacement for the actual whisper lid, so get one while you can.

i bought it for the 169 price from hawksthirdgen with the carbon fiber finish, no decals.

thanks man, if it would work with your setup one would look slick with a stainless turbo/3800/bowtie decal on it with the blackout theme. but it's ok---i have a lid that whistles a little bit and you have a bov---i think you're in better shape lol. i'll be looking into h/c and/or turbo after i get my work bonus and pick up a SUV to dd instead of the 'maro so i can work on her more.

you can do the same thing by getting the c/f lid from hawks and then getting stainless decals the right size to put on it. i just decided to put my own artistic touch on the lid---i've done small things like that all over/inside my car to make it a little more unique.

before i got my lid i even autographed my air silencer delete intake haha.
