all the way to WOT? at idle with any dual exhaust and with no knowledge of cars or camaro's will sound like a V8. my flowmaster sounds like a V8 until I get on it and then you can hear it's definitely a V6...atleast that's my opinion...

IMO this is the ideal sound: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YfZ2Msn2Ig
really, does this hold any truth? get an exhaust off a v8 f-body will reduce/eliminate rasp?

a v8 or v6 with stock duals will give u less rasp, but also not as deep or as loud

still a case-by-case basis, but in my experiences yes. i had a flowmaster catback and high flow cat before and she sounded like a jar full of bees when i got on it (pretty decent at idle though), and just upgraded to pacesetters, high flow, e-cutout, and 3" borla catback. needless to say, it killed most of the rasp, and it seems much smoother and deeper (although quieter with the cutout closed). i keep my cutout barely cracked and i get asked if she's a v8 all the time, so i can't wait to see how it turns out with h/c

moral of the story---you get what you pay for---and man did i dish out.

v6 stock duals are crap...like 1 inch tail pipes...I knew V8's aftermarket exhausts could be installed on our V6, just didn't know I could actually reduce rasp/eliminate it competely with going the cheapest most economical way and just robbing one off a stock V8. now you gone and gotten me excited.

my flowmaster is not a full exhaust still have the 2.25 inch stock piping, I just have the can and dual outlets with magnaflow tips...so if I were to find a V8 stock muffler...would it sound better/improve performance over my current setup?

^i have basically the same set up as u, but with vette tips

sound is an opinion, personally i like flowmaster over stock v8... its prolly about the same performance wise

i am NOT guaranteeing tht it will help rasp at all, but from all that i have read and listened to on the net, the stock v8 exhaust has less rasp than flowmaster

can you link me with a clip? of all the dual exhaust V6 clips I have watched I don't think I've ever heard one with a dual exhaust from a V8 fbody.

btw POST number 420....are you cool? ;)

No, opening up the exhaust typically makes the rasp more noticeable. A resonator can help to reduce it, but won't eliminate it.

I'll get a video with the cutout open eventually, although you should all know that it'll just be loud as hell.

Ah, gotcha. I was comparing it to stock.

Oh, and before I forget. The 3.6L Caddy engine sounds pretty similar to a 350Z, IMO.

Ok, looking at z28 stock mufflers I notice they are 2.5" in and 2.25" out.

do you think the stock z28 tips would matter for sound?

all tips sound a little different, but i dont think it will make a big difference

and i would have no clue which is best anyways
