As far as I know, yes. It is ok to have it installed in the car.
If you are worried about it, take your bottle out when on the street. if going to the track, put it in the car, but don't connect it until you get there.

Nitrous is legal in Cali, you can have it in your car but can't have the bottle turned on unless you're at the track. That's the legal part of it, personally I never shut mine off.91 Firebird 3.1
SC12 Supercharger
LSD w/ 3.73s
NOS 80hp wet shot
AKA: Phoenix
\"If Speed Kills...Consider Me Dead.\"

Since it is not on the States Hazard Chemical list for transportation then your ok. What a cop wants to do about it if your caught running it in a "race" on the street can vary.94 Quasar Blue Z28
http://www.9t4z28.com
http://www.9t4z28.com/Dyno1.htm

Yeah that is the thing, there are all the fine lines:
Some states say yes you can carry it buuuuuuut
1)can not be within reach of driver
2)bottle can not be hooked up
3) bottle may not be on.
I'm sorry I haven't found a web site with all the state requirements for nitrous use and automobile applications.
I gotta try and find one with all the lawsRace car - gone but not forgotten - 1997 firebird V6

A cop in cali told me that you cant even have the system let alone the bottle in the car. He said that if he even sees a button, he can have you pop the hood and if he sees the system he will give you a ticket for having it on your car.
