  • Dyno Results!!!

    Well. it goes like this.

Went to the dyno for the Austin F-Body club dyno day. Didnt have a time to myself so I was just praying that someone wouldnt show up. ... Well they someone started getting a SES light and didnt want to go afterall. So we got it all strapped down and tried to do a motor pass for refference. For some reason it wouldnt pick up the rpm and horsepower consistantly.

After five runs we couldnt get it to work. So we had to pull it out and let some other people go. There was like twenty people trying to go today.

Talked to the guy and after a while he said he had an optical pick up sensor for when they do rx-7 and deisel engines. Some more time came free and we put it back on the drums.

We did a complete motor run and it worked great. on straight motor with 103K miles on it I put down 166.0 HP with 204.9 TQ. Not the greatest of baselines but acceptable. My old dyno about two years ago was 174 HP. That was a different shop and the shop I went to today is known for running lower.

Next we sprayed the 75 shot. Friggin awesome! 251.8 HP and 339.0 TQ. That was a net gain of 85.8 HP and 134.1 TQ! Remember that this was with a 75 shot.

Then we ran a sprayed shot while collecting wideband o2. Pretty much the same. The bottle pressure droped since the pulls were so close together and on the first run it was at 975 psi. On this last one it was right at 900 psi. one the wideband pull I got 247.6 HP with 337.9 TQ.

Damn I am happy. Money well spent. I got the graphs on my site. and picks also. I am uploading them right now.

If you are thinking of spraying ... DO IT!!!

            ANDY,
So your motor had 103K on it? Do you have the 3.4 or the 3.8? Did you rebuild the engine at all? And lastly, what HP shot were you running?
            Thanks!

Running on the motor that came inthe car oh so long ago. Its a 3.8 with 103K on it. Havent done a rebuild or anything like that. Next motor will include those two cylinders I seem to be missing. I was running a 75 shot. It least thats what the jetting chart says is a 75.

                Andy, (again)
So what all did you do as faras checking the engine out before u started? And your running the wet kit correct? Would I be better off getting a wet kit vs. dry? I have a 94 3.4L with 120K on it. Motor is running excellent. I dont know if it has ever been rebuilt or not, but it doesnt smoke, miss, or anything. I was looking at the 5175 NOS system, possibly runnin 50 or 75 shot. Any suggestions? And lastly, what saftey (ie. FPS, ignition, fuel pump mods) would I need to adrees before running the 75 shot. Thanks alot for your help!

I didnt do a compression check or anything like that but, I just made sure the car was in tip top shape. Did a full tune up and autotaped the car and made sure everything was running at the normal levels. I am running the NX wet kit. I choose the wet kit cause from what I read and my own understanding, it is easier to spray bigger shots safely. You dont get injector lock up etc. Mostly you shouldnt have to do much to getthe car spraying the upper levels.

My car didnt miss or anything like that either. I thought the 5175 was a dry kit. I bought a inline fuel pump and am going to have to buy the fuel pressure regulator. As far as safety devices I got a/f gauge, nitrous pressure gauge, fuel pressure safety switch, inline fuel pump, wot switch, and safety blow down tube.

I would recomend the wet kit but I have never ran the dry kit so... I also saw that people were buying the dry kits only to later convert them to wet for bigger shots. So I went ahead and got the wet right off the bat.

I got the pn 20920 All GM EFI Single Nozzle System (35-150hp) I also got a p# 15509 N20 Flo-Thru Pressure Gauge (0-1500psi) d-4. Everything else came in the kit. I had to buy a blow down tube and fuel pressure safety switch.

Kit cost 480 from nitro dave in waco texas. info in another post ( http://www.camarov6.com/cgi-bin/ulti...=3&t=000335&p= )

v6's are notorious on the dyno for not getting readings.
what you have to do sometimes is connect 2 wires from the dyno computer to 1 spark plug wire. How do I know this??? Been there many times :D
                        Nice #'s
Kinda high torque #'s but I guess that is a wet kit for ya
Sounds good, now run that beast
