  • To the track...

Its pretty official that I am going to the track this weekend. For those of you in Texas or willing to drive, there will probably b alot of folks with fbodies going down to RCR. RCR is Rivercity Raceway right outside of San Antonio (up I-10). www.rivercityracewayinc.com

Gonna test out the spray at the track. Gonna shoot the 75 and see what happens. If all goes well I might try to bump it up. Any Suggestions such as but not limited to: amount and fuel type, simple things to remove, jetting size for 100 and 120 shots, etc. etc.

I am going to be running on a set of nitto drag radials. Saw my roomate do a 3800 rpm dump and the tires hooked like a champ.

Well I just want to state that I am currently running a rearend with 2.73's in it and no lsd. I am also running a tranny that has never been rebuilt or anything. the car is a 97 and has 103K miles on it. With that being said...

The last time I went to the track I got a 15.6 @ 88.86 w/ a 2.34 60' time. This was on a set of 16" brigdestone potenzas. Friday I got to the track a little late and so the lanes were kinda full. I strapped the nittos on and began to run. The first pass I got a 14.9 @ 94 mph. I was racing a friend in a ls-1 and just for gigles I sprayed just a little at the end. I then went and got the bottle topped off and got ready to make the full pass.

This run I left the line at three grand and as soon as I felt the nittos hook I put it to the floor. Started to spin the wheels real bad. Shifted into second and spun themn a little more. finished the rest of the pass. I beat the lt-1 I was racing against with a 14.5 @ 97 mph.

The next time I was up against a cobra. did a bigger burnout and left at 3000 again. spun pretty bad in first again but after that it was all gravy. I got a 14.10 @ 100.5 mph. the cobra ran a 13.9 @ 98 mph. He got me a little from the launch and when I spun he didnt. After the launch I was reeling him in. damn he got away.

The next time I did a super burnout and was up against a friggin IHRA 69 camaro. Needless to say he ran a 9 something. When I took off the nittos hooked and then I sprayed and **** started to feel good. shifted into second and started spraying. the car wasnt accellerating but the engine had a load and was climing in the gear. I then changed to third and got the same thing. Let off the throttle and put it in fourth. took off and then sprayed some more. I had a toon of track left.

I was able to still trap a 96 mph time but I got a 15.8. My friends in the stands were taping and they immediately ran over to tell me something was smoking but I had already smelled the clutch smoke as I was creeping back to the pits.

they normally say n2o will find the weakest point in the car and mine was in getting the horses to the ground. When the nittos would spin the tranny and clutch were fine. when the nittos hooked the clutch gave way. The trap times represent a 13 second car. If I could have had more pulls I probably would have got it or fried the clutch.

Car runs fine now and I am looking for a new rear in the meantime. Maybe a little lsd as well. And a 1 piece drive shaft for sure.
