• At this point I hate Nitrous

Me and three friends spent all day installing my NX wet kit i bought used. First off there was no nozzle. Cause the guy ran it dry. Dont ask me why, So im screwed there. Then i hook it all up run the solinods and purge and all wireing and have then put in 3 lbs. of nitrous in the tank. So after all run up we decided that we would just run it dry for tonight and then mon. pick up a nozzle. So we plummed it and everything. and cranked the bottle open . I hit the arming switch and press the purge and it purges but then leaks out that line like crazy and will not stop till u turn the bottle off. So then we turn it back on and try to hit the switch to see if the nitrous solinoid it activating. And what do u know it isnt. SO grat well i drive my car to my work and bam my tire pops what a day. Please help i am so lost.

My solution: Get piss *** drunk Sunday night, find out whats wrong and fix it Monday morning. It was sucky that on top of everything the tire popped. Fo rsoem reason that purge isnt closign fully, i dont know if it soemthing is blocking it or what? Also, Im not sure if we would have heard the solenoid activate when you hit the wot switch manually, but i think it should have... I dunno, need sleep

Which part of the purge was leaking and or where was the leak? Use the tube like I did yesterday to find exactly where it was leaking/ Re wrap the fittings and tighten. yes, you should have to wrap the A/N fittings but I haven't found a one that seals properly and NX will even teflon tape their fittings.

Call JB at IRS in the morning and ask him to get you or find out how much a nozzle is for you.

see the leak that we found yesterday and fixed is working great..no leaks there...its like the solinoid is not closing all the way and that it is leaking out through the unclosed solinoid..WE did test the purge and it worked when he hit the buttom..So what we are going to try and do i think:

remove the purge from the system and have just the WOT available... But WTF is wrong with that silinoid so that it wont close fully

and how would you test the WOT switch? is there any way we could just test that to make sure that it is working correctly?

im confused and the flat tire pissed me off also

all in all...last night SUCKED

dont sweat it Kris we will get it working..

"First off there was no nozzle. Cause the guy ran it dry."

Still a little confused about this one. Dont understand why he didnt give you guys the nozzle.

"Then i hook it all up run the solinods and purge and all wireing and have then put in 3 lbs. of nitrous in the tank."

Did you intend to run the system or just test the solenoids? I have trouble getting 3lbs up to the required pressure.

"... after all run up we decided that we would just run it dry for tonight and then mon. pick up a nozzle."

bad idea. Thankfully this is fate saving your guys *** ! if you are installing a wet kit it needs to be positioned behind the maf. If you are running a dry kit it should be before the maf so the computer has the ability to add more fuel and prevent the detrimental lean condition. If you guys installed the wet kit the way it should be and tried to run it dry, you would be posting in 94-3.4's post about blowing an engine.

"... purge and it purges but then leaks out that line like crazy and will not stop till u turn the bottle off."

Sounds like a bad solenoid to me. This is not the kind of equipment I would take chances with. I would most likely get a new solenoid.

"... and try to hit the switch to see if the nitrous solinoid it activating. And what do u know it isnt."

Again look into getting a new solenoid before you have to look into getting a new engine.

"... my work and bam my tire pops ..."

I understand. Had those kinds of days before.

"... NX will even teflon tape their fittings."

keep in mind that the instructions specifies teflon paste in the instructions. If you dont have the instructions download them from the nx website. www.nitrousexpress.com

"... find out how much a nozzle is for ..."

They usually run about 40 to 55 bucks.

"... how would you test the WOT switch? is there any way we could just test that to make sure that it is working correctly?"

If you got an electrical switch that works of some type of throttle position voltage, I am not sure how to test that. If you have a manual switch like the one I installed, with the car off you can floor it and see it the switch activates or not. Thats how we did mine. Remember the picture of the system spraying the nitrous into the air? that was a system test.

Final thoughts are to get a multimeter or some type of voltage meter and check the system out. Make sure that everyone that needs voltage is getting the proper amounts. Make sure all saftey hardware is installed properly and one of them isnt keeping the solenoid from clicking. Wish I could look at it and help you guys out more. I need apare of eyes and hands I can email to you guys and allow me to see whats going on. heheheh

Email me or something if you guys get into some more serious problems.

>>I think this is a 3rd generation sale aond over time things get lost. Based on the bottle style and a few other things thins looks like an older NX kit

"Then i hook it all up run the solinods and purge and all wireing and have then put in 3 lbs. of nitrous in the tank."

>>>It would have been ok for a wuick shot or two with a short distance. The bottle was pressured good since it was only filled with 3 lbs.

"... after all run up we decided that we would just run it dry for tonight and then mon. pick up a nozzle."

>>It was or is installed before the MAF right now. Tapped into the PVC extension before the TB. Did not want to tap the lid since it wouldn't be dry for long

"... purge and it purges but then leaks out that line like crazy and will not stop till u turn the bottle off."

>>> this was news to me as we did test the purge while I was there. The only way to really test it is bench test it to see if the solenoid stays open or send it back to NX. If it's not bad then the ground may be bad.

"... and try to hit the switch to see if the nitrous solinoid it activating. And what do u know it isnt."

Again look into getting a new solenoid before you have to look into getting a new engine.

>>>>you can test the solenoid here by shutting the bottle off, turning on power to the ignition only (not running) arm it, then tap the WOT switch. You'll hear the solenoid click. That tells you it's working as far as power.
days before.

"... NX will even teflon tape their fittings."

>>NX will teflon tape it but also the A/N fittings do not always seal properly. As long as the teflon tape is not on the nozzle end or lose in there your ok.

to 55 bucks.

"... how would you test the WOT switch? is there any way we could just test that to make sure that it is working correctly?"

OK first, you bought it used, you must understand that it is used and may not have all the parts.
Mine leaked too, plus anytime I've changed solenoids they sometimes leak.
I wired the button in wronmg for my purge. When i push the button in it stops the nitrous coming out, i let go and nitrous pours out :D
things happen.
First you need to make sure you have all the parts.
what do you have?
I've had solenoids go bad.
teflon tape will not work ever, it always leaks, teflon paste is the only thing to use
taking a wet kit and switching to dry isn't a good idea, wait till monday and get all the required parts.

Slacker-

NX kits are wet. Thus who ever sold youthe kit lied to you about the nozzel. NX shark nozzels come with 2 lines: one for nitrous, and one for fuel. You could run the kit dry, but spray the nitrous in the intake.(I wouldn't reccomend it) Otherwise, buy the nozzel, and download the NX intructions, and run it wet.

Andy has the right ideas here.

You and ross save your money and come to austin. Let get this figured out and get your kit running. I have class on wednesday morning. and work that afternoon. thursday I am done with class and such at like 2. come on over and lets do this. If you can email me a list of everything the kit came with and I will call and make sure that the performance shop here in town has everything you dont have in stock. Just so we dont run into any snags.

Teflon tape works well if you do it right. had mine on and not aleak yet.

Trust me, whoever had the kit before had it jerry rigged bad. It only came with a single nozzle. he has the instructions and I'll get it on for him as soon as he gets the proper nozzle :)
