  • Very bad and scary day

    Today was the houston v6 shootout at houston race way park so i go over to my friends house early so we can install my bottle warmer well while he was installing I was putting in jets. Well i turned it to tight and the nozzle broke so im like **** I cant use nitrous. Well we go to the track and I make some NA passes there ok but I want my nos. SO i alresady had a dry setup in my intake tubing so i cut the power to the fuel soliniod and hooked up the kit dry. I dont know what a NOS 40 size jet will equal. SO i make a run and bam after the run my car shuts down. Ohh sh*t I say. I pull over and pop the hood the nitrous soliniod wouldnt close it stayed open and was continueing to spray my whole intake setup and lid and throttle body was frozen including my MAF sensor. So i rip out the intake tubing fast and then run and turn off the bottle and i am so sared that I fu**ed up me engine. SO i wait untill everything unfrezzes then i put it back together and try and start and it starts fast and quick and then cuts so i try again and it was normal. So i go pick up my time slip and I ran a 13.8 flat. So not bad but a very bad experience and I dont know what a 40 jet for NOS dry is maybe someone can help me on that. Thanks and ?? post

    So you have a wet kit and you stopped the fuel solenoid from working and juiced anyway?
    You ran lean and possibly caused damage to the engine.
    Never, ever do what you did again!!
    Dry kits use a vaccum set up for fuel
    Wet kits have fuel solenoids tapped off the fuel rail.
    Check your plugs and see how bad they are.
    Dude, please don't juice until you learn a bit more about nitrous systems
    Do a search for the book I always reccomend.
    The search words would be "joe petit"

        I ran a personla best NA about 35 min after this happend so i think it will be ok but i will never do that ever again. Wait untill i get a new nitro soliniod and a purge soliniod before spraying again. Also i read somewhere that NX soliniods have a lifetime warrenty is that true.

            ok this is what i think happend and i dont think anything happend to his motor...

            1 the wet kit nozzle got messed up so we ran it dry in the origninal place we tapped in the lid..

            2 when he went to WOT on the run it was spraying the N20 and the POS NX kit he got messed up and the nitrous solinoid didnt close so when he let the gas and applied the brake.closing the butterfly deal so no air/nitrous was going into the intake manifold it was trapped right then next to the MAF scensor and the lid..and for the 10 secs after teh run when the "butterfly" thing was closed the entire intake was filled with nitrous and that what caused the car to die..it was not getting any air because it was frozen....

            SO why would it not start up when the bottle was Closed and the MAF defrosted..there no reason it shouldnt and it started and ran better than before..

            thats a little more detailed of how it worked..we sprayed the dry shot the right place the POS NX Kit messed up for the 1000000 time since weve had it

              At least a 120 shot with the .040 jet.

              .028=75
              .030=85
              .032=100
              .
              .
              .
              .
              .
              These calc's are for a LS1 NOS Dry system

                Be happy the kit you have is crappy....120 would have broke things..but low bottle pressure and $hitty solinoids saved you...

                hehehe

                      i think it was somthing wrong with the n20 becuase i have been running a ls1 dry kit and it works fine with no leaning out or any problems i put a gague on it and its find asa far as rich/lean goes but i have only run 100 shot for test and tuning it and plan on running just a 75 on street and up to 125 a the track

                          A 40 jet will be something like a 75 shot. But not if you dont add fuel to your wet setup. It doesnt make it a dry kit just by disconnecting the fuel. You have to put dry nozzles and jets infront of the MAF so the computer can compansate for the extra nitrous. In a wet setup you have to have the jets behind the MAF because you are already adding the extra fuel. So if you disconnected the fuel line from a wet setup you ****ed up big time. You would have ran really lean and thats why your engine died. As far as starting it after, I heard you should wait up to 24 hours for all the nitrous to be dried up. Hope you didnt do any damage.

                            the week before we setup the kit as a dry kit when we didnt have the correct nozzle to do the wet kit...we set up the dry nozzle in front of the MAF like it should be a couple days later we got a wet shark nozzle and tapped that into the throttle body where it should be.

                            since he broke the wet nozzle before we went to the track we were at the track and he really wanted to run nitrous and since the dry nozzle was still installed in front of the MAF he hooked it up there and put a plug in the throttle body he didnt try and do a dry kit using the wet nozzle like i think some people are thinking
