• Can the MAF screen handle a nitrous backfire?

Although nitrous backfire is ALWAYS bad, I imagine it would be exceptionally worse if the MAF screen blew to bits then got sucked down into the engine. Should I go ahead and take it out for the nitrous?

do a search... Somebody here did exactly what you are asking about but I can't remember who??
I would take it out if you are going to run a wet kit, but that's me. If you are going to run a dry shot you have to have the screen in or it won't work right. But I'm pretty sure it will work OK if you take out the screen with a wet kit.
hope this helps

LOL... That was me you are talking about. Yeah, do a search for my post. It sucked bad... you can remove the screen if you want, but you might get a rough idle.

Any other questions?... just ask.

So far I have only experienced the dry kit.
I've had small back fires and 1 big back fire :D That big one caused the car to stall.
Should you remove it???
I dunno yet.
If there is a big enough back fire that destroys the maf then most likely the car will stall out completely.
I honestly could not give you a definate answer on this.
For peace of mind you may want to remove it, will I yank mine, probably not

I'm yanking mine.. if a rough idle is the only thing to worry about, then I can live with that. Rough rides really don't bother me at all.

i pulled my screen out. Did not notice a change in performance at all. The idle did get rough but not bad. Its tolerable sometimes its rougher than others. Seems like it gets real rough when the engine gets hot. When its cold or cool its pretty smooth. I also use the NX wet kit and have had no problems with it being removed.
