  • Nitrous Kit opinions

I was just wondering what everyones opinions about the different kits are. I plan on going dry and probably a 75 or 85 shot. Are kits basically the same or do some have better quality, better function, better safety, more power etc etc. Kit's I've been looking at: NOS Zex NX TNT (that order preference too) or any others that might be suggested.

Another thing, can someone clarify the whole thing about one kit being "specific" for a car. Other than different jets whats the difference? Will the 5176 NOS kit work on my car? How about kits that are "import only" or "ford" kits. My understanding was a nitrous kit is a nitrous kit.

I don't have one yet, just doing the research at this point. The thing that I've noticed about the car model specific kits, is a metal piece that fits the shape of the intake tract. The metal piece has the nozzle already plumbed into it.

For instance, the chevy v8 kit comes with a "power ring" which goes in the intake tube.

One of the Ford kits has a square piece.

The kit for carb/TBI cars has a square (looks like a very thick carb gasket, but made out of aluminum) that fits between the carb and the intake manifold.

It looks like you have to drill the throttle body to install the nozzle for a generic kit.

I'd like to have the nozzle a little further upstream to keep it from freezing the maf screen/wire, but I don't know if the power ring mates up to our 4" intake tubing.

And I have that angled throttle body on my '98, so I probably don't have the room to mount a power ring ahead of the throttle body, without the intake tubing getting into the radiator anyway.

Go with nos kit 5175 at an 85 hp rating, it worked wonders for me!!!!
With that hp level and exhaust and intake you can easily see mid to high 13's and get lt1's nervous :D
Kits are sperated due to ways they shoot nitrous in (ex, power ring, spacer etc)

What if I get a kit with a power ring. Such as 5176 or 5177 (I'm assuming)? I have the high bid on a 5176 right now (oops) and it ends soon, within a couple hours. I would get a 5175 but I can't find them used and expense is my biggest concern. Is there much of a difference that anyone knows from company to company?

never mind, I just searched and found out it will fit.
