I did a search but couldn't find anything about this. I was just wondering what makes up a purge kit. All I know of is it's just another solenoid hooked up to a switch that has tubing running somewhere other than your intake like a purge nozzle or just out a tube. So if this is the case couldn't I just buy a regular nitrous solenoid and some tubing and make myself a purge? Or do I have to buy a kit?
My kit is being shipped today so I'm sure once I get it alot of this stuff will make sense to me.
I think you got it right. The purge kit just comes with another sylenoid that goes right before your nitrous sylenoid then you run tubing off that. But I dont know if a regular nitrous sylenoid would work. The way I think about it is that the nitrous sylenoid is always closed untill you tell it to open. So if the purge sylenoid is always closed it would not get nitrous to the nitrous sylenoid. I dont know if im right for sure but this is just what im thinking.
I never thought of that, your probably right. Would you be able to put a T fitting right before the regular solenoid and run it to a regular nitrous solenoid though? Or does that cause a problem.
The LT-1 kit that I ordered is supposed to come with dual solenoids. Would I be able to use one of these for a purge or would it be a better idea just to keep the dual solenoid setup incase one of them should fail considering it's a used kit. So I'm assuming if I were to make my own just buy a T fitting from somewhere, place that right before the regular solenoid and run a short braided line to the purge solenoid which would be hooked to a switch inside. What would I use after the solenoid? I want to eventually get a dual purge nozzle and have it shoot out under my hood and go over my windshield.
Well could it work, probably.
The nitrous kit does come with 2 solenoids but you need both of them already.
The purge set up is just a seperate solenoid, wiring, button, and a desired length of tubing for the purge exiting the engine bay
A solenoid is like 80-90 bucks
I think the purge kit is only a bit more, maybe like 100-120?

Still trying to find oil leak on my Camaro, it’s a tough one. I think it is the oil pressure sender myself. Leaking when raving and going into boost....
