  • nos 5175 performance?

    I have had my kit on for about three days and I can tell a difference, but it is not as significant as I thought it would be. I believe that I have the 85 shot jet in (.47), but I thought that I would feel this power increase much more than I do. Everything works properly, but I just do not feel the acceleration like I thought I would. Does anyone think it could be bad nozzle placement. Where do you 98+ guys place your nozzle? I still have the screen in the throttle body and the nozzle is mounted in the rubber piece just before the tb, could this be adversely affecting my spray? Or maybe the difference I feel is all we get out of the 85 shot. Someone please enlighten me. Thanks
    btw my kit came with only two jets- .42 for the fuel and .47 I have heard of people getting several jets with their kit, is this true?

    I don't have my nitrous in yet but I've rode in my friends grand am when he sprays. Honestly I couldn't feel much difference. I think it's something where your going faster but you just can't tell. Or your expectations were set to high. Thats why I've been going around and racing cars that I see around here that I know are faster than me just so I can have a reference for once I get my nos. I've been told to put a nozzle in my lid right at the back of it but I'm sure having a silencer would make that a bad idea. I have a 98 so I'm running into some frustration on my intake/nozzle placement. I was under the impression that the 5175 kit came with a few different jets. As far as the fuel jet that still confuses me, I don't get why in the world you need a fuel jet on a dry kit. Someone told me once but it didn't make sense. As for the screen 12sec says that on pre98 cars you need the screen and others have said that they took it out on their 98+ car and had no problems.

      It's actually more of a vacuum jet than a fuel jet. It's the jet that sticks in the T fitting that you tape the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator with. The jet controls the amount of vacuum pressure change while spraying, which in turn adjusts the tuning of the fuel pressure regulator to add more fuel to the mix.

        hey Infernal, how much pressure should be going to the FPR. also can the nitrous regulator(blue thing between the 2 solenoids) mess up?

          That I don't know, though based on what I do know I'm going to guess and say not a whole lot.

          I'm not sure how the nitrous pressure regulator actually regulates, but it has to be purely mechanical since there is no power connections to it. Anything can mess up, that's my motto.

            I was bored very quickly with the 85 shot.
            When I hit it the first time I was extremely dissappointed. I thought I pissed my money away.
            I did however run a 13.6 with the 85 hp dry nos kit 5175
            98's and up for nozzle placement: either one or 2 nozzles drilled into the lid. 98's and up seem to not have a problem juicing and no maf screen
            Infernal is correct, yeah people call it the 'fuel' jet but it is truely a vaccum jet
            Stock fuel psi is 32.5 (or that was what I had)
            When I juiced it with the 120 shot my fuel psi jumped up to 80 psi
            I also have an afpr so I have raised the psi n/a also.
            When you hit the nitrous button the 1st nitrous solenoid is opened and then it passes the blue thingee which raises the fuel pressure and then the nitrous flows into that second solenoid. If you are a bit scetchy about what I am talking about go to my site and look at my old set up.
            Off the blue thingee there is a vaccum line that runs to the stock fp vaccum line which is hooked up to that via a t fitting

              what do you mean extremely disappointed with the 85 shot? I'm looking to do that only because I don't want to risk a higher chance of damaging the engine with a higher shot. Is this enough to beat GTs and say a Mercedes CLK 430. (I want revenge after that car spanked my *** silly)

                I can tell a few tenth', worth of diff, at track so a full sec. from a 85 shot should be very noticeable. However on the street I think its harder to tell anyway because of reference points.

                  Don't get me wrong, you will be happy.
                  I went from mid 15's to mid 13's on an 85 dry shot (actually 13.6).
                  It just does not hit that hard.
                  The 120 is unreal!!!!
                  Now I have tried the 75 tnt wet kit and I have been to a 13.0!!!
                  To me it does not hit that hard.
                  The first bottle just cleans out the carbon build up.
                  Give it a bit and you will be happy!!!!
