I'm new to this too but from what I've been told an 85 shot will get you into the 13's on a 3.8 There really isn't much you have to do to prep the engine for a 85 shot. It's recommended that you get some NGK TR6 spark plugs. Other than that nothing is really needed but the more you do the better. I don't think timing needs to be adjusted and your fuel system is supposed to be good to a 100 shot. NOS systems and most others are designed to work on completely stock engines. Oh and don't call it NOS, it's nitrous, people around here have a hair up their ars about that one cause theres so many companies. Look into the NOS 5175 kit but you won't really find them used if thats what your looking for. Check around ebay, kits are generally universal. Ex: The zex Honda kit fits our car with only jets changed if wanted and it's cheaper than the zex kit for our car. Hope this helped

you should def get colder plugs and a fuel pressure saftey switch this will save your engine if the fuel pressure drops to low it will not let the nitrous cut on or if it is on it will cut off the nitrous i.e. saving your engine

if you wanna get good times i would upgrade yoru rear end to 3.42's with a posi unit email ammperformance@aol.com and tell em what you need.

Well you could just throw the kit on and go from there or you could be smart, take your time and do it right, I ersonally like the second choice :D
Before I juiced I changed every fluid in the car (oil, tranny, rear, coolant, thermo etc etc etc)
Then plugs, wires, o2 sensors, pcv valve, etc etc etc.
Basically I did an extensive tune up.
The only upgrades I suggest are ngk tr6 spark plugs gapped at 0.035
Since you are doing a wire change I personally like accel etreme 9000 8 mm wires or taylors for half the price
Now a nitrous system really benifits from a full exhaust.
If you do that then you really should address the intake set up also.
Well with the 308's and open rear you will smoke one tire to all hell
Until you get a lsd in the rear you will have a hard time hooking.
If you got 342's and lsd you would easily be able to run high 13's on a street tire.
You shall no longer fear stock or extremely lightly modified lt1's
