  • how much can the 3.8 take?

    hey,
i just hooked up a 75shot zex kit, and i was wonderin how much the 3.8 can take, REPEATEDLY, the guy who hooked it up for me said that the newer camaros all have forged pistons and can take quite a bit, i never heard that, but i did heat that the supercharged 3.8's have forged pistons, so help me out, oh and my mods are in my signature... i think. im averaging 14.66 @97.3 on a g-tech right now, before nos was 15.55 @91.84.

    Welcome to the nitrous section.
I know you are knew on the site.
We quite often get repeat questions so we like to see people do searches.
    As for max hp level?
Well, I had a 120 dry shot on a nos kit
Magnus and I both run 100 wet tnt shots
    Nope, we have hypereutectic pistons.
If our internals were forged I'd be running a much higher shot :D

As far as Zex goes, they underrate the kits. I was running what Zex called a 110-120 shot ( with a stock motor and fuel system ) and was only barely hanging with lightly modded LT1s. I never dynoed with it though ( i went one time but the dyno was broken from a lightning storm ). You will be safe with Zex 100 shot, but I wouldnt suggest going any higher... I had a couple close calls with my 110-120 shot ( like going REALLY LEAN during shifts ). I am going to a wet setup next month. Zex is a decent kit for small shots, but if you want more power you will be wanting a large dry or wet setup soon.

I’m new. I actually don’t own a Camaro or firebird. I do have a 2000 Camaro 3.8 fly by throttle and 4l60e. This is installed in a 1980 Triumph TR7...
