Ok, Im thinking of ordering a NOS 5175 kit...Everyone says install a FPSS...Is it a regulator or safety switch. Also, is a larger fuel pump needed or a regulator?? Please pardon my ignorance, but i havent messed with nos before..
It's actually a safety switch, and btw im selling my kit I just bought it, I decided I didn't want to install it bcause of the distance to fill the bottle, plus my warranty.
1998 Chameleon Green Firebird Auto.<br />Whisper Lid, RK sport Muffler system. NOS 5175 (not installed)
The kit comes with the fpss. I thought from the way everyone was talking, it was an upgrade to get later, or order at the same time. But it's included. So I guess the advice is don't shortcut the install by leaving it out.
I'm working on my kit now. Got the bottle and blowdown tube done, the fpss installed, the solenoids installed, the fuel pressure regulator and tubing done, and the wot microswitch mounted (and I didn't even use the little bracket...)
Still need to do the wiring, the arming switch, the injector nozzle, and the hose from the bottle to the solenoids. And get the bottle filled...
I can take just the speaker cover off to turn the bottle knob on and off, I kinda like that setup!
Maybe it's different versions of the kit. With mine, the parts list has a listing for it, and the drawing of the parts shows it.
I like how they include that little pipe elbow too, that thing worked great for hooking up the fpss and the sending unit for the new fuel pressure gauge. Kept them over out of the way.
FPSS= Fuel Pressure Safety Switch, so yes it is a safety switch :D
As for biger fuel pump or regulator, no, these kits are designed to work with stock regulator, pump injectors etc.
Any other questions try a search, if no answers are found then post away, we will respond
