  • Another sprayed v6 :)

well, you can add me to the list of spraying v6s
im running a 75 shot starting out, and its a blast, got a wot switch, arming switch, and fpss
need to get a window switch, but that will come later as right now i can manually actuate it between 3000 and 5500 rpms
i didnt think a 75 shot would kick as hard as it does but this stuff is addictive
ive already started plans to one day convert it to a wet kit and kick the shot up to 100 or 120
i think my car likes it quite a bit, i havent had one hiccup since nitrous was installed and it idles smoother than ever, im guessing that the carbon was building up quite nicely (could be the 92 octane im running thuogh? lol)

      you both suck :D

I've had my kit installed for a month or two and spent a couple months before that installing it. I still haven't flipped the switch because my stupid SES light won't go away and I haven't quite figured out the problem. Oh well from what I hear it'll be worth the wait

Yeah it's worth the wait, not only because nitrous is awesome, but because the safety of your car is important. Take you time and do it right. Do you kno what code is setting off the light?

I'm making a topic for this after realizing how long it is, so if you want to know what the code is look in my topic.

              Best of luck
You might want to check and see what that code is to be safe.
Glad to hear you are happy :D

12sec i do have a question for you, i dont know if you can answer it, but ive been running with my MAF screen out, i read somewhere that with nitrous it was best to have it in, which way is it, or does it matter?
ive been running it without but i dont want to do anything to potentially jepordize(sp?) my engine
                    any help appreciated

I was told to put it back in just in case (you never know) and if you have the IAT sensor mod, definately get rid of it as it advances timing. Technically, 12sec could probably give you an explanation about the MAF screen though cause I don't know.

On mine, the maf screen was needed to keep the maf sensor reading the correct air flow. While logging the car with an autotap, with the screen out, the maf readings were all over the place when I was spraying. The car would alternate between lean and rich constantly, and had a little miss in it. With the maf screen, it settled down the airflow and the maf sensor read more accurately, leveling out the a/f ratio.

I have the '98 with the angled tb and the center mounted lid.

                            Throttle body screen:
Well, the older 3.8 series 2 with the angled intake manifold and throtle body seem to need the screen in for nitorus.
The newer 3.8 series 2 with the more direct straight pathed intake and throttle body seem to not need it.
It is mainly there to smooth the airflow entering the engine.
On my 97 with a dry kit I found that with the screen in I was fine using nitrous.
When the screen was all brittle and almost falling apart I could not juice it at low rpm's, it would have to be hihger rpm's (I did not realize that my screen was falling apart).
With the screen completely removed the car would almost stall when I hit the nitrous.
The newer models seem to not have this problem.

Do not do the iat mod with a nitroused car. Sure it richens the car up but it will also advance timing which is bad with a nitroused car.

when you say low rpms, how low did you normally go?
