Do i have to have maf screen removed for nitrous?

I heard that its dangerous to have maf screen in because of a chance of a backfire and getting the screen in your motor do i have to have the screen out?

I should have asked what year too...

The '99 and up tolerate (or even run better) with no maf screen. My '98 (at least with a ported tb) did not like the maf screen gone, so I put mine back. The angled tb, coupled with the sharp angle to the lid makes the airflow pretty bad across the sensor. The '97 and down have the angled tb, but the hose is a little straighter shot into the tb, and they seem to have mixed results.

Wet is more likely to backfire. (although dry is not guaranteed not to backfire, 12sec has run into this.) So if you can get by without the screen, and it is a wet system, you should probably take it out to be safe.

Dry should inspect and replace theirs every so often because it is said they get brittle from the nitrous shot after a while.
