• power loss with ngk tr6's?

since everyone highly recomends these plugs they will be the ones i will most likely buy. i have heard a lot of talk about N/A power loss with them? how much of a loss is there really? will my quater mile times go from like a 15.3 to a 17.3? how bad is it?

also, would gapping them at like .4 or .45 instead of .35 lessen the power loss. would less of a gap be ok since im only going to be using a 50 shot? how exactly does this work?

are there any other nitrous plugs out there that someone might recomend for a weak little 50 shot that wouldnt loose so much N/A power? im just trying to look at all my options.

I think I'm the only one, but I ran stock plugs with my 85 shot. I did have to tighten the gap to .045 vs. the stock .060 gap to get rid of a top end miss when spraying.

Platinums are said to be bad because the ground electrode, or ground strap as it's sometimes called, doesn't conduct heat as well as copper. So it can heat up and cause detonation, or even melt.

Stock ac-delco platinums do not actually have a platinum ground strap, they have a small platinum tit on the underside of the strap...

Something like a bosch +4 would likely be a problem.

I finally converted to ngk tr6's when I went a step above a 120 dry shot. And I think my problem was actually fuel delivery, not the plugs. After I get the fuel issue resolved, I will probably put stock (or slightly colder stock type) plugs back in and see how they work.

Tough call.
Honestly I do not know.
I ran my best n/a times with my ngk tr6 plugs gapped at 0.035
14.475 on a plug that is 2 ranges colder than stock????
I also have some Autolite Copper plugs for n/a purposes gapped at 0.060 but I never saw a 14.4 on them

There should be a power lose due to heat ranges.

But, my bird went it's fastest with the much colder plugs.

I don't know if I will have time this year to do a back to back stock heat range vs 2 ranges colder 1/4 mile test.

I would like to though, I'll try before the season is over.

You do bring up a very good point though.
If I don't get you an answer this season then next season definately
