• FPSS GONE BAD!

SO my nitrous was not working. After troubleshooting the issue with me my friend and his dad who is an electrician we have narrowed it down to a bad FPSS. This sucks. I was using a Fuel pressure checker tool and with key on car not started pressure is about 45psi, idle is about 48 and when I tap the gas it vary's but I seen as high as 54psi. Does anybody know what PSI these FPSS's are set to by default? I cant remember but I am sure its less then 45PSI. When I bypass the switch nitrous opens just fine. Does anybody know if NX warrenty's these things?

Also does my Fuel pressure sound right? Is that what I should be getting?

Anyway I need a new switch!

Anybody have any ideas how this may have happend?

The switch could have malfunctioned for any number of reasons (bad electrodes, bad pluger, current spike, etc). If I remember correctly most FPSS switch are set for 5 psi or better. A quick look over a jegs shows one for $35. You could probably find it cheaper if you looked around some more.

And your fuel system sounds fine to me with those numbers.
Not a problem, just a challenge...

if you have a nx kit, the fpss is set at 35 psi from the factory, these things do go bad after time though

Yeah They are. Double check on NX's website.

Man I think I may have the same problem.
What symptoms is your car having?

TRY THIS: Take it out and tap the open side of the FPSS on the ground to get anything out of it. Do it quite a few times and then reinstall it. See if it helps...

Symptom: Nitrous will not work. ;)

Do you guys know how the FPSS works? IF not I will explain real quick, there are two wires hooked up to the FPSS. THe FPSS has a valve inside. When the valve is compressed it compresses a piece of metal that will connect the two wires together. IF the piece of metal inside the FPSS is not compressed far enough it will not connect the two wires. This valve is also adjustable at different PSI. I tried to compress this valve with it set to 0 PSI and it would still not work. but when I bypassed the valve and connected the two wires that were on the FPSS with a paper clip the nitrous worked fine. I know the FPSS is bad because I used the fuel pressure gague and I have plenty of fuel pressure.

I then removed the FPSS hooked a paper clip to one side and another paper clip to the other side of it. then I took apart my flash light, hooked one of the paperclips to the flashlight battery on the negative side and the other paper clip to the flashlight battery on the positive side. I then blew air inside the FPSS, With the spring out of the FPSS it should open the valve with little amounts of air being blown in. SO I covered one side of the FPSS with my finger and blew in the other side. IF the valve inside the FPSS opens like it should the light on the flashlight will turn on. The light did not turn on.

I hope that makes sense. I dont think it does but I tried. IT sounds complicated but its really not. Let me know if you have questions.

I had my Friends dad try to rebuild it but he says sense its a pressed seal on the FPSS holding it together, if the seal was broken it he wouldnt be able to get it back together. I have emailed NX to see if its warranty or not.

Well, wait till the new one arrives from nx and get back to juicing

Good to hear that you found the problem though

If you are getting it to click then thats not your problem. If the FPSS were bad it wouldnt click. Clicking means its opening up the sylonoids.

A pulsing felt when spraying is evidence that it is working correctly

Fuel psi guage would be a good thing and also when you visit the dyno next week and wideband that will give you more info
