  • Is a Throttle Position Switch better than a W.O.T. safety switch?

I am thinking about purchasing a nos 5175 dry kit for my car, it is a 2001 camaro, M5 trans, Y87 performance package, I also have installed a B&B tri-flow exhaust, whisper lid and k&n filter.
I am aware of all the safety switches I should use. I recently found out about the Throttle Position Safety (TPS) switch available from Nitrous Express. The description I read of this switch makes it sound like it will work just like a W.O.T. switch except it works of electronic signals instead of mounting a W.O.T. switch under my gas pedal (See the email that I recieved from tbyrne below).
My question is could I use this TPS switch instead of using a W.O.T. switch, and does any one else currently use this switch? I will also be using a RPM window switch, and a FPSS.
Thanks in advance for any replys!

    Dear TBYRNE,
I have a 2001 3.8L Camaro, and I am considering installing a NOS dry kit on the car. My question is about the Throttle Position Switch that you currently have for sale. Does this switch work similar to a Wide Open Throttle saftey switch, that it only will allow the nitrous system to operate at wide open throttle?

Yes, this switch is a better version of the standard WOT switch. It works off of the TPS voltage instead of the throttle plate actually making contact with the switch to activate.

    Hope this helps,
    David

I would prefer a TPS switch over a WOT switch but the WOT switch is much cheaper. And they can both get the job done.

Well, honestly I do not have experience with either but a WOT will work, the TPS switch is a more improved version of it.
The WOT switch works off the tb cable hitting a switch on the WOT switch to enable it.
The TPS switch checks voltage from the TPS sensor and once it reads 100% or 100 it will allow the TPS switch to work

I hope what I said makes sense
