  • Window switch info for EVERYBODY

Ok, I finished the install of my Harlan Window Switch tonight. Not very difficult at all. A few things I found out about our cars and these switches:

    1. It is pin 54 on the PCM for the tach output signal. Of the two "banks" of pins, one on bottom and one closer to the firewall, it is on the one closer to the firewall. #54, a white wire.

    2. I figured that since the MSD switch had to be modified to 2 cylinder mode, this one would eb set to 2 cyl also...NOT TRUE. Set it to the normal 6 cylinder mode for the proper operation.

I am sure I will think of a few more useful tidbits of info for everyone later, I'll post as I remember. Feel free to ask any questions about the install or the switch itself. Matt Harlan was VERY helpful in getting the switch shipped in a timely manner (under a week), and the instructions that come with the switch are very detailed.

Is there a specific window switch part number or generic?

Thanks for posting the pin 54 thing.

If you have pics of the install that is great

    Thanks for the update!!!

Nope, on the Harlan website it is just called the RPM window switch. I shall try to get some decent pics up tonight after work if I can, no promises since school is already getting hectic.

WOW! I was taking a nap and woke up thinking about this, and rememebred one very important install tip.

When you have this switch all wired in, and ready to setup the window....You will have to set the upper RPM first, since it is by default set to a low number something like 1,400rpm. If you don't when you set the first one to about 3,000rpm, it will give an error....this is because the higher RPM is presently set lower than the lower RPM...set the higher one first, then set the lower RPM, I nearly cussed when it happened to me, then I figured out what it was doing.

Ok, my turn to ask a question. What is this product, and what does it do? I've only heard about it once before.
