  • What is the biggest shot I can use with stock fuel sys.?

I just finished installing my zex kit on my camaro and I was wondering what is the biggest shot I can run with the stock injectors and pump. Btw my kit is dry. I did a search first but I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. Another thing too, I originally bought the kit for my 5.0 mustang which I reguarly ran the 125 jets, also with the stock fuel system. I believe it had 19lb injectors and and 88lph pump. I ran the kit for several months with no problems whatsoever. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

It's a 97. Was 12secondv6 using the stock fuel sys. or had he already started modifying it?

He had a ken Bell boost a pump and also had a custom pcm made to make the fuel mixture really rich for saftey so i would say 100 tops on a stock fuel system if its runnin right for my 2000 camaro and my NX kit i needed a new fuel pump

i read somewhere that with proper fuel system, 20-25hp per cylinder is considered to be the max"safe" zone.

then again with n20 nothing is never safe

Oh cool, a Norman guy (I lived in OKC last year)

I would say 100 also. Now if you built the motor and all the the sky is the limmit, I know a guy runing 8's on a 410SB and he has a 2 stage, 175 on the first then like 200 on the second or something like that. I would make sure you install a fuel pressure guage if you run 100 or more.

My NOS-5175 dry kit came with a 47 jet (85hp).

I ran a 63 jet (120hp) with upgraded 24 lb injectors. I also downjetted the bypass at the same time, from a 42 to a 30, to get more fuel pressure.

When I went up to a 67 jet (135hp?), the 24lb injectors went static above 4500rpms, and the fuel pressure dropped off as well, so that was hitting the limit on injectors and pump both...

Stock injectors are smaller than 24. 19.6 or 21, depending on who you ask. I believe 12sec had 24's when he ran his 120 shot too.

My experience is with a NOS kit
I ran stock fuel pump, stock injectors, modified superchips computer (richened the mixture), adjustable fuel pressure regulator turned up from 33 psi stock to 46 psi (psi taken at idle), kenne bell boost a pump (50% increase setting).

I did upgrade to accel 24 lb injectors and 1 month later I blew the motor. I did not have the computer adjusting for bigger injectors and it ran rich low end and lean top end :(

For a bone stock fuel system I would say max 85 hp, why??? Because the big name companies stand by those numbers. Any higher and it gets iffy. Sure you could go more but you might need to tweak the fuel system a bit here and there
