Hey whats going on i have just fixed my nitrous from cutting out and i am running a 100 shot i got my bottle filled took it for a test run launched my car n/a waited until 3k hit the button and my car kicked me in the seat until about 3500k rpms and boom a backfire not too bad but it did crack my airbox i was like oh well maybe i will try it again so i went to the track ran n/a three times and ran my personal best n/a all three times my best that day was a 16.34 so i leave my car running and let my bottle heat up to a thousand pounds and lined up launched my car hit the nitrous at about 3k and bOOOOOOMMMMM one heck of a back fire i my car turned off and i pulled to the side of the track and my car was smoking under my hood so i poped it and lifted it and there was a small fire under my hood where there is the bird so i put it out and waited about a minute and cranked it up i completley destroyed my airbox so my car runs like crap where can i get one and what causes the backfires? thanks

What kit do you have. One thing u need to look at is what angle the nozzle is pointing in the TB. I spray out of the hole everytime i will go through an entire bottle in one night. no more nitrous backfires. You need to make sure your nozzle is pointing straight back toward the TB plate. Also you need to make sure the nozzle is placed behind the maf sensor that is if this kit is a wet kit.SICK-SIXX MEMBER
NA 14.345 with a 1.863 60 foot
Nitrous 13.03@99.5 with a 1.63 60 foot

2000 Camaro 3.8L A4: USE TO HAVE Comp Cam 210/220 .535/.547 113lsa 111 I/C, Port and Polished Heads, NX Wet Kit 100 Shot, CPRA made by CP, RK Sport Headers

If it isnt straight toward the back of the TB it could be it is hitting the top or bottom of the TB it could be puddleing up and causeing the backfire.SICK-SIXX MEMBER
NA 14.345 with a 1.863 60 foot
Nitrous 13.03@99.5 with a 1.63 60 foot

2000 Camaro 3.8L A4: USE TO HAVE Comp Cam 210/220 .535/.547 113lsa 111 I/C, Port and Polished Heads, NX Wet Kit 100 Shot, CPRA made by CP, RK Sport Headers

Backfires on a wet kit:
1) hit nitrous at too low a rpm
2) nozzle not aimed perfectly
3) throttle blade not open completely
4) fuel puddling
5) fuel solenoid leaking
6) faulty nitrous/ fuel solenoid
Basically go through that check list and get back to us.
Also check all vaccum lines. When I had the big wet kit backfire I blew off/ appart soooo many vaccum parts.
Vaccum line to throttle body
Plastic elbow into brake booster
Plastic piece into passenger side intake manifold
And other parts.Race car - gone but not forgotten - 1997 firebird V6

Advice #1
If you have a backfire bad enough to crack the lid, I wouldn't be running the car anymore that night
Advice #2
Get that engine checked out. Friend of mine had a wet kit backfire that warped his heads -- first time out with the nitrous, first backfire.
Realize also that a lot of people have problems with wet kits. Our manifolds don't like having gas in them.2001 75th Anniversary V6 Pewter Firebird w/ Chrome Wheels, T-Tops, & Y87
Mods: Free Ram Air, !Silencer, Holley Filter, Full 3\" Hooker Catback, 3\" Cat
Best time: 15.095 at 90.00 MPH with a 2.127 60\'
