First of all, how much did you pay for a microswitch?

Get the converter. It'll save you some headaches, although the price might be a little higher than it should be. Like for instance, that thing can be built by any electronics guy (like me) for like $5 of parts, plus, it would be adjustable.

Last I checked, Scoggin Dickey had the NX WOT microswitch for under $15! www.sdpc2000.com and do a search for NX, it'll bring up a couple pages of stuff, but on last page, it's there.

Nad part of using a relay like someone mentioned, that won't do the trick. A relay doesn't wwait until you're input voltage is a certain amount before it outputs the 12V, it outputs the 12V all the time, just at a more managable current.

the price of the converter would only be 11 dollars and it is not worth the effort for me to give you 5 bucks and then spend that alone in shipping it.
