• whats the difference between ngk tr55 and tr6s

i have the tr55s in my car now.

TR55 is what ngk lists as the standard replacement for our cars.

TR6 is one heat range colder, and is used by the nitrous people on here.

Everybody says .035 for these plugs on nitrous.

I ran stock plugs at .045 on my 85 shot, but then again, I'm the rebel around here...

I do run the tr6's at .035 on my 120 shot. I had a miss on the other plugs when I went with a bigger shot than the 85hp.

That's how I went at mine. Bottle and line. Then the nozzle. Then the solenoids and wiring, tieing it all together...

What kind of trouble with the nozzle? Figuring out where you want it? Getting to the tb to drill it?

i know were to drill it the only place avaiable in the front, on the front of the engine.

figuring out how to secure it in the t-body.
maybe drill and tap but i would need a special kind of tap. not sure where to get one at.

or maybe i mcan use that little piece they give you to hold the nozzle in , but my t-body may not leave me enough room to use that little piece.

now i kinda wish i had a dry system so i didnt have 2 worry about the sensor and i could just put my nozzle b4 the t-body.

I drilled and tapped mine u can see pics at www.crappydayscamaro.cz28.com. I got the tap from home depot i think it was a 1/8th ntp tap. Or you can order the tap from here.

very bottom of the page. Just drill a striaght hole and alittle bit smaller than the tap. I love that mine is drilled and tapped cause i can take it out really easy and just plug the hole with a rubber stopper .

Seems like I remember hearing that somewhere.

Also seems like they supposedly have slighty different (non-standard?) temperature cutoffs that correspond to their range breakdowns, so depending on how you check, or which plug you cross reference to, you can end up with a TR5 or a TR55, because of the overlap of their temperature ranges with everyone else.

When I went to their (ngk's) site a couple of days ago, I just entered the vehicle information, and they are the ones who said TR55. That was based on the actual vehicle rather than any cross-reference.

Who knows...

ok i installed new plugs and wires today.
i hear people say that when you go to a colder plug like this your gas mileage is shot; it goes way down.
well that wasnt the case with my car .
i drove from raleigh nc to mooresville nc ,by charlotte. at an average of 80 mph i averaged 26.7 mpg
now thats pretty damn impressive.

You should be fine with them on the highway.

The only real problem area would be if you did a lot of stop and go, they would be more prone to start fouling under those conditions, and then your mileage could suffer.

A couple of good nitrous runs tends to clean the plugs real nicely... :D
