    Ok, I did a search and couldn't really find what I was looking for. With an automatic is it ok to spray while the car is shifting? And can I spray off the line? I kinda feel stupid asking these questions but I don't want to mess anything up when I get my nitrous. Thanks.

    It's cool to spray w/ our automatics. It is essentially the same auto that the corvettes use so you know it can handle the horsepower increase. I think the only difference between our auto and the vettes is a different bellhousing.

    You can spray out of first, but I wouldn't spray under 2500-3000 rpm's. If you have a WOT switch, then you should have the rpm's by the time your shot hits.

      What he means is that it ok for the nitrous to be spraying in between shifts when the transmission is shifting.

        Let's say you put out 200 crank hp when you shift. Just for example...

        And let's say you put out 300 crank hp at the same rpms, when spraying a 100 shot.

        If the tranny can handle 300 crank hp when shifting, then you should be ok. Nothing unique about the hp being generated by nitrous.

        I spray mine throughout. No good way not to, unless you set a window switch to cut it off at your shift point rpms anyway.

        As far as "spraying off the line", the main things are 1.) spray at or above 3k rpms, and 2.) can you get enough traction.

        With an automatic, with a wot switch, you will be at 3k rpms by the time the nitrous hits.

        Traction -- That depends on tires, converter, gears, lca's, etc. Judgement call. With an 85 shot you should be fine. You're looking at putting down nearly LT1 hp, about 285.

          Well, I spray through my shifts.

          I've been told that it is actually bad?!?!?!
          I dunno, they claimed to see the internals of a tranny that consistently sprayed through shifts and it was destroyed......

          I have no belief in that though.

          It would be quite silly to start spraying, then just before it shifts nitrous cuts out, you upshift, nitrous cuts back in, nitrous cuts back off, you upshift again, nitrous cuts back in.

          The above method would seem like a more potential of damage to to several shock's (or hits) of nitrous throughout a complete 1/4 mile pass. also traction would suffer

          I stall my converter to 3000 rpm's at the line, launch and then hit the nitrous.

          3,000 rpm's + is good, below is bad
          Race car - gone but not forgotten - 1997 firebird V6
          nitrous et & mph: 12.168 & 110.95 mph, n/a 13.746 & 96.38 mph
          2013 Dodge Challenger SRT8: 12.125, 116.45
          2010 Ford Taurus SHO: no times yet
