  • NOS install on 3.4L, have a few questions

I am currently installing a NOS 5177 (LS1 kit) on my 94 camaro. I got a heck of a deal on this used from a guy online.

now, this being a dry kit, i have just 2 solenoids for the nitrous (one being a safety backup...). My main question is, how is extra fuel added when the nitrous is engaged? all the parts i recieved were: bottle, lines, assorted jets, wiring, fuel pressure safety switch, and WOT switch. I have read some things about some sort of vacuum component that raises your fuel pressure when the nitrous is engaged?? can anyone give me suggestons????

as of now, ive got the bottle mounted, solenoids mounted, lines hooked up to the solenoids. One other thing i am not sure of is since the guy didnt send me a nozzle, i went and bought one. its a single nozzle, designed for just nitrous flow. Where is the jet supposed to be mounted? Is it mounted in the nozzle? and speaking of jets, what size jet do i need to use in order to acheive a 50 hp. DRY shot?

heres a pic of the nozzle:

wheres the jet go in relation to the nozzle????
finally, the fuel pressure safety switch. I am not sure how to mount this on the fuel rail. the fuel rail has one of those schrader valves on it, ive already taken the core out of the schrader valve out. it looks liek i need some sort of female-female fitting to connect the threaded male part of the FPSS to the threaded male part of the schrader valve? am i making sense here? any ideas on where i can get such a fitting?

thanks for any help/suggestions you guys can come up with.

You get extra fuel two ways.

One, the cold nitrous flowing over the maf sensor makes the pcm think there is more air coming through, so it bumps up the fuel injector open times.

Two, there is a blue diverter that mounts between the two solenoids. It applies pressure to the vacuum port of the fuel pressure regulator, and kicks the fuel pressure up. That way you actually flow more fuel when the injector is open.

Click on "My Car" in the signature below, look at the nitrous install pictures. Pictures 6, 8, and 9. They show the pieces you should have.

The best place to mount a nozzle for a dry kit, is as far upstream as possible. Mine is in the far corner of the lid. The jet does go in the nozzle. The angled part of the jet faces the angled part of the fitting on the braided line.

To get that little pipe elbow for the fpss, you will probably have to order it from a NOS dealer.

The directions for my kit list a 36 jet as a 50 shot.

Somebody on here has scanned the directions for the 5175 kit, but I don't remember who.

      3.4s don't have a MAF, do they?

I don't know a whole lot about dry kits, but I am pretty sure you have to rely totally on the vaccum to make the injectors compensate since you have no MAF.

As for the jet, slide the thin part into the bottom of the nozzle and then screw the line on over it.

To hook up the FPSS, call NOS techline and order part number 17983NOS and 17450NOS, should be about $12

Sorry I couldn't help more, but the only thing I know less about than a dry kit is the L32 :(

you have any idea of the part number for the diverter valve???

and any idea on who has scanned instructions?

        thanks!

3.4s don't hav MAFs, you need to call NOS and order the vaccum device to raise the fuel pressure

Sorry about the confusion on the maf sensor. I was thinking about my 3.8 when I said that.

The diverter is listed as Nitrous Pressure Regulator 15850, and it's connected between the solenoids with Nitrous Solenoid Tee 17242.

Coming off the regulator, is 1/8" npt x 3/16" hose barb 16244-A-S, then some 3/16 hose, and a Vacuum Hose Pressure Tee 17538 (that's the part that the bypass jet goes in).

Yup, vaccuum is the only way.
Click on my sig and you will see the blue device used for vaccuum

Everyone else has pretty much covered all ends of this....

              Any other questions?

a number 36 jet is a 50 shot huh? I have a .028 and a .030 jets that came with the kit. Any idea of what hp shot each of those would be?

                    hey guys, few more questions.

anyone know the part number of the number 42 bypass jet that fits into the T vacuum fitting?

also, i have several nitrous jets, a .028 and a .030, what HP levels do each of these jets make?

                    thanks

Not sure about those other jets.

                      In the NOS instructions:
                      36 jet is 50, 34 jet is 40.
So those smaller jets would probably be somewhere around 20-30hp or so...?

** edit ** added an answer about this too:
The part numbers are probably on page 1-2 on the instructions Nachius posted.
